I needed a way to procrastinate, so I decided to make a list of the poems I always go back to. One day, I will make handmade personal use (with permissions from all involved, of course) small binder/book thing featuring all these and it will be like my security blanket and go with me everywhere.
In no particular order, the "professional" poems:
Name of Image
One Art by Elizabeth Bishop. This poem was one I first read in J-High. I didn't fully get it then, but I think I do now. It's not, for me, important as a breakup poem, but as a "I legitimately lose stuff all the time" poem.
And Soul by Eavan Boland. I recited this one for a class. Love it.
Backdrop addresses cowboy by Margaret Atwood. Same for this one.
the lesson of the moth by Don Marquis. Found this during my J-High poetry project. I could totally relater then, and I still sometimes feel this way.
The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. I had almost all of this memorized at one point. Just because.
Pimp My Ride by Jennifer L. Knox. This one is a little outside my norm, but it was the first poem I had a genuine "Ah-hah!" moment in, while I was helping someone else write a paper on it. I still tear up a bit and get goosebumps when I remember.
Table Talk by Billy Collins. This is the one I did my paper on. Also fabulous, but more evident. It did lead me to the next item on the list though, which is
On Turning Ten by Billy Collins. Goosebumps. That last stanza... Gah. Why is life so full of beautiful things?
On to the deviantart poems!
A Chance to Breathe by . This one is new, but, man, that's powerful.
i'd hate her if i could. by . This is a really old piece, but I keep coming back to it. I think it could be me one day.
you can't make them love you by . Again, newer, but powerful and lovely.
Modern Magic by . For me, the description just makes this.
Perverse Incision by . Dark and deep and lovely.
Severed by . I think I like the punctuation. But I do like the poem.
selfish desires by :iconcoriana90: (again). Honestly, I could feature a *ton* of her stuff. But I will restrain myself. Check her out though.
What's Become of Us by . This is... wonderful. I get goosebumps. So this and Fine Frenzy song got married in my head and produced a piece.
This list may expand. I have lots of room in my heart.

Next Semester (and another contest)
So I'm not at a four year college anymore. That means I can try new things. So my schedule so far is Elementary Voice (I have wanted to take a singing class *forever* but I'm so nervous!), Intro to Bronze Sculpture, Wheel II, and Stagecraft. I want to add creative writing and another practical, but I'm so excited right now! Whee!
Also, more contests! The brony community is just so talented and gernous. If these contests wern't so awesome, I'm sure y'all wold be sick of me plugging them by now lol. But they are awesome, so there ya have it. This one can be found here:
Hey a Contest!

How to breathe (and a contest!)
Last year was hell. Honest-to-goodness, soul-crushing, I-can't-breathe, hell, . Now, not gonna say I blame SDSU for that because that would be crazy-talk, but I will say I didn't gel there. Because of the hell? Maybe. Or maybe the school was just a genuine poor fit. But when it came time to register for classes, I just couldn't do it. I couldn't go back. I want to visit the people I met and loved, certainly. And I do miss the film program. But it wasn't my home. No sense spending money on anything less than amazing, right?
So I left. I never ever ever thought that was something I would do. I've always been four-year college girl. Responsible,
Mistborn
Ahh finals. You bring out the procrastinator in me... Things I have done instead of studying (don't worry, I'm going to do awesome anyway!): read the entire Mistborn trilogy, drawn fanart for said trilogy, found a new reviewer to watch, pintrest, NAPPING, hanging, finding new music, browsing dev, looking at MB fanart... you get the point. And now a public service announcement!
If you haven't read Mistborn ("MB") by Brian Sanderson, you should. They are mindblowingly good. Like, revolutionary. And it turns out Sanderson is a really, really cool guy. He literally posts dvd-style extras about his work. HOW RAD IS THAT??? Also, I love what I'v
